Connecting with the community through education, recreation and enrichment.

Community Programming lives within school and community center locations across Brooklyn, providing children and adults with an opportunity to develop interests, build skills, make friends, and explore opportunities.
Operating within the Heartshare St. Vincent's Family Services focus area, Community Programming is ultimately built around the needs of the community and the interests of the participants. These programs emphasize safety, academics, recreation, and arts enrichment. We aim to develop positive and constructive relationships, expand experiences, and achieve dreams.
Our dedicated and highly qualified staff bring innovation and creativity to every program, ensuring that young people and adults remain engaged and inspired. A thoughtfully-designed, age-appropriate roster of activities fosters learning and growth. The programming itself takes place at five locations in Brooklyn afterschool, on weekends — in the summer, as a summer camp during the workweek.

These community programs — while a providing a lighter touch than many of the other services Heartshare offers — are important. We are offering a positive alternative across Brooklyn neightborhoods: a safe, physical space for children, youth and families to engage with our staff and one another; a place to receive academic support, workforce readiness and family & economic empowerment tips. And it's fun to connect with the community.

We offer three types of Community Programming in Brooklyn, spread across five locations. Additionally, we offer a unique creative therapy program to the Coney Island community. All are dedicated to creating connections between New Yorkers who live in the same area and are looking to gain more from one another.
