Providing skill-building, community connection & personal growth.

Day Programming helps individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities explore new environments, participate in new experiences, acquire new skills, and become members of the larger community.
All of our Day Program locations offer opportunities to develop interests, skills, and talents — from music and art to life skills and positive habits — in the hopes of allowing members of the neurodiverse community to live a more independent life and achieve personal goals.
Community and cultural connection are a crucial component to fulfillment and a staple of what we do in Day Programming. Program participants take part in a wide range of activities offered at museums, historical sites, libraries, theaters, recreation centers, and more. Program staff build out a robust calendar of events and trips, focused on both access and learning.
In addition to adventures around the city, volunteering is an important element of our programming. Each of our ten programs offers different types of volunteer work: from food pantries to community gardens. These opportunities and experiences are an important first step in allowing individuals to move towards employment.
Heartshare Developmental Disability Services' Day Programming supports New York City-based adults (18+) with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We offer a range of programs based on personal independence goals and required support. To join one of our programs, OPWDD eligibility is required.
Every New Yorker should have access to the city and all that it has to offer. Every New Yorker should have the opportunity to continue to learn, dream, and create as they move through adulthood. Day Programming at Heartshare allows this to be true for members of the intellectual and developmental disability community.

Heartshare offers ten site-based programs varying from levels of high support to independence and community-integration focused, spanning across Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island available to adults (18+) with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
